DAVID LARSEN, born in Parsons, KS, on June 18, 1947, and joined the USN in September of 1966. He went to the Naval Inshore Operations Training Center, Vallejo, CA, and the Vietnamese Language School in Coronado, and Survival Evasion Resistance Escape Training. He arrived in Vietnam September 13, 1968, attached to RIV DIV 593. He was a gunners mate on several different boats.
His decorations include the Navy Cross, Bronze Star with Combat V, Navy
Achievement (Gold Star two awards with Combat V), Purple Heart, Combat Action
Ribbon, National Defense Medal, Meritorious Service Award, Vietnam Service
Medal, RVN Campaign Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. He was discharged
in June of 1972 as gunners mate third class. He married Mary
in June of 1968 and they have one son, Ken. Larsen is a concrete
contractor.
