MARK J. BOWERS, born Jan. 31, 1947in Twin Falls, ID. Entered the service in 1965. Trained at the usual places as a member of USN and a member of the River Patrol Force, RVN.
Served with RIVSEC 544, RIVDIV 593 and 594. There were too many memorable experiences to name, but he was bit by a snake while on PBR 756 in 1968 and hit by B-40 in February 1969 while on patrol out of Moc Hoa.
Discharged in 1969 as PO3. Awarded Bronze Star w/Combat V, Presidential Unit Citation, RVN Gallantry Cross, Navy Achievement and others. Currently is the captain of the Carson City Fire Dept, NV and has three sons. He was a member of the Navy Reserve from 1969-93 and retired as chief petty officer.
